PURAN TAMANG
NAMCHI, 23 Feb: The four-day cultural fest, ‘Blossom Fest 2011’, organized by Namchi Government College, was inaugurated today by Chairman, Namchi Municipal Council, BT Tamang, accompanied by NMC Vice Chairman, NH Ansari, as the special guest.
The inaugural programme had various cultural performances by the college students and students from different schools of Namchi.
In his inaugural address, chief guest Mr. Tamang said that this initiative of the Namchi college students will not only help in the preservation of various cultures and traditions but will also encourage the coming generation to respect and follow their traditions.
Later, the chief guest visited the stalls of different communities put up by the college students. In the evening programme, the audiences were entertained with performances by local singing talents of Namchi.
The second day of the fest will witness a traditional fashion show, dance competition and cultural performances. The Nepali band 'Mantra' will rock the stage on the third day where top bands of the nation will compete against each other while the organizing committee has decided to keep the programme of the final day as a surprise, it is informed.
Also present at the programme today were teachers and students of various schools of Namchi along with the Principal, staff and students of Namchi Government College.
