The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology organised an Inter-School Quiz Competition on “Buddhism and Sikkim” at the NIT premises on 28 August, 2015. The quiz was held on the eve of Pang Lhabsol as part of the celebrations.
Seven schools from in and around Gangtok participated in the quiz competition: Tashi Namgyal Academy, Enchey Senior School, Modern SSS, West Point SSS, Tashi Namgyal SSS, Paljor Namgyal Girls School, and Deorali Girls SSS.
Each school fielded a team of three senior students from Grades IX and above and also sent students to participate as audience members. The quiz comprised basic questions on Buddhism as well as on Sikkim.
The quiz, a first for the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, was organised by the Academic Section to create awareness amongst the youth. TNA, represented by Rigzen Wangchuk, Tathagay G. Sharma and Tenzing Wangchuk, were placed first and won the cash prize of Rs. 10,000; West Point SS School, represented by Tashi Namgyal Kazi, Arpana Pradhan and Banu Lama came second and won the cash prize of Rs. 6,000. The third prize went to Paljor Namgyal Girls SSS represented by Kunchu Lepcha, Tenzing Namdrol Bhutia and Tenzin Dickyi Bhutia, who won a cash prize of Rs. 3,000.
All participants as well as the audience members were given complimentary copies of NIT publications.
