Regular classes for the final semester will commence from 20 May onwards, informs Jitendra Raje, Acting Vice Chancellor of Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management [EIILM], a private state university based out of Malbasey in West Sikkim. The students are also co-operating with the state government till they are relocated to other universities and colleges, he added.
Before the official closure of EIILM University, the state government is undertaking all necessary formalities including the relocation of 162 students that includes foreign students studying in the college before the next academic session for 2015-16 begins in June. Dissolution of EIILM University will be placed in the Legislative Assembly in the next session as the Cabinet has already cleared the process for dissolution, Mr Raje informed.
The Cabinet has already approved the HRD Department’s proposal for closure of the university under Section 47 of EIILM University Act, 2006 on 28 April last month.
The state had appointed Director, Higher Education, HRDD, Jitendra Raje as Vice Chancellor -in-charge of the University, Deputy Director, Higher Education as Registrar-in-charge of the University, HOD, Commerce, SGC/Tadong as Controller of Examination-in-charge of the University for the interim period required for completion of the process of dissolution.
