MP and Minister call on Union Minister for Skill Development

GANGTOK, 06 July: Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai, and Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and HRD, RB Subba, called on Union Minister for Sports, Youth, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Sarbananda Sonowal, in New Delhi on Friday.
The discussion, a press release received from the press secretary to the MP informs, focussed primarily on skill development for the youth. They shared Sikkim’s experience in skill development and explained the work done by the State Institute of Capacity Building, the first such initiative in the country, the release adds.
Mr. Sonowal also lauded the progress made by Sikkim, especially in the field of Organic Farming.
Mr. Subba also apprised the Union Minister about some of the initiatives of the State Government in the field of capacity building and sports & youth affairs. The Union Minister, who hails from Assam, said that he will do everything to kindle entrepreneurship in the North-East Region. Speaking on Sikkim, he mentioned that there is tremendous scope for entrepreneurship in the field of tourism, the release details.
The meeting was significant because Mr. Sonowal holds a special thrust ministry being in-charge of skilling India’s teeming workforce. The release points out an Economic Times report which states that “the Modi government's first Budget is expected to transfer most, if not all the skill development and training initiatives under at least 21 different ministries, to the newly created ministry for skill development and entrepreneurship headed by Sonowal.”
