South Sikkim’s Ashish Pradhan selected for India U-14 Academy


GANGTOK, 31 Aug: Ashish Pradhan from South Sikkim has been selected by the All India Football Federation to be inducted in the India U-14 Academy which is also known as Pailan Academy in Kolkata. He has been shortlisted from the Gurgaon Trials.
A press release from Sikkim Football Association [SFA] informs that Ashish has been advised to report to the academy at Kolkata by 05 Septemer. The players of this academy will be fully looked after by AIFF including their education.
Ashish was initially selected under the scheme "Search for More Bhaichungs", thereafter he was picked up by the Indian Air Force and is currently based at New Delhi. General secretary, SFA, Menla Ethenpa has said that he is very happy for Ashish because this is a golden opportunity for him to show case his football talent as the Pailan Arrow Academy at Kolkata has been set up for India with the target to play in the qualifying round for the FIFA World Cup 2022, the release mentions.
Mr Ethenpa further informed that India is bidding to host the U-17 FIFA World Cup in India in 2017 while president, SFA, BK Roka has also sent his best wishes to Ashish
