GANGTOK, 11 May: Sikkim Spring Carnival, 2012 kicked off today with the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling doing numerous inaugurations in and around the Capital.
In the afternoon, he first inaugurated the Buddhist Art of Butter Sculpture and Sand Mandala [by Tourism & Civil Aviation Department] along with photo/painting exhibition [by Information and Public Relations Department] at White Memorial Hall. He then flagged off the seven days Mountain Biking rally which will be travelling to Gurudongmar Lake [consisting of twelve participants including one from Norway] followed by unveiling the foundation stone of the Beautification of Ridge Park [done by the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department] and then inaugurated the various Food Courts put up by the different communities of the State.
Later on a traditional wedding procession along with procession of Faith Healers was also done from the Ridge Park to MG Marg, where a cultural programme will also be held in the evening.
