GANGTOK, 10 Nov: The fury with which rain and storm overtook Tinek on the night of 26 Oct caused the Tinek Water Tank to swell and ultimately give way.
The overflowing water ran down across the lands of Gopal Mangar, Nandu Tiwari, JK Gurung, Late SP Luksom, Kripesh Singh, Ruthkarthok Lepcha and few others. The land now stands at the verge of getting destroyed, informed one Vaskar Gurung.
The affected land owners had earlier placed their grievance to the AE, PHE department where the AE had given assurance of constructing a protective wall.
However, the AE has informed them that the Secretary of the department and other officials together would inspect the area on 15 Nov, informed Mr. Gurung further. Now the affected are left with no option but to wait for the departmental head to come and visit the place. [from NANDU DUTRAJ]
