GANGTOK, 07 Nov: West District Bhutia Kayrab Yargay Tshogpo, a literary association of Bhutia Language organised its district-level meeting at Kyongsa Girls Senior Secondary School, Gyalshing on 06 Nov, informs a press release.
The meeting was attended by all the concerned Bhutia language teachers and general public of West Sikkim. Padmashree Norden Tshering Bhutia, former education Director and the President of Bhutia Kayrab Yargay Tshogpo, General Secretary, Pema Rinzing Lama (former HRDD Jt Director), Joint Director HRDD, Tashi Bhutia and other central executive body and district level executive body members from all over the state participated in the meeting.
The meeting was organised to counsel all the concerned teachers to work sincerely and efficiently without forgetting their responsibilities and to understand the activities of West district executive body in the recent past, the release informs.
It was an important occasion for all, as the number of Bhutia language students are decreasing both in terms of enrollment and linguistic knowledge, the release mentions. The teachers were advised by the president and general secretaries and other resource persons to work according to the principle and objectives of the association without politicizing the cause as the, Bhutia Kayrab Yargay Tshogpo is a completely apolitical body in principle and spirit, the release informs.
Further, the meeting appointed some of the new advisory body and active members from different schools of West Sikkim. It was also decided to conduct some important activities in the future such as quiz and essay competitions, excursion of students to various historic and religious places, career counseling with both the parents and students and organizing meetings to assess the activities of the association from time to time, so that the Bhutia language, culture, traditions and customs could be saved from deterioration, the release adds.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks by district level Vice President, Dorjee Tenzing Bhutia to all the members gathered and school principal, Tshering Eden for allowing the meeting to take place in the school auditorium.
