GANGTOK, 07 Nov: Sadar Police has arrested the burglar who stole 20 tolas of gold from a Namchi resident at Namchi itself. The crime was committed on 14 September.
The accused Rahul Rai, 20 a resident of Rimbi, West Bengal, was nabbed by Police on 5 November for having allegedly stolen 8 tolas of gold, some cash and an Alto car.
“During the interrogation he admitted that he burgled a house at Namchi and stole the gold” Officer in charge Tshering Sherpa informed. The Police also recovered and seized 12 tolas of gold and American currenty amounting to Rs 21,000 from his rented accommodation at Chandmari.
The seized Alto car had been reportedly bought with the stolen cash of Rs 1,50,000. The accused been handed over to Namchi Police.
