DIKCHU, 19 June: A training cum demonstration on cultivation of oranges
and cardamom was held at Passingdong GVK today under chairmanship of the GVA. The
training was attended by 100 farmers and panchyats, Zilla
members of Passingdong, Saffo and Lingthem-Lingdem GPU.
Joint Director [Horticulture], SR Bhutia, highlighted various programmes
implemented by Horticulture & Cash Crops Development Department and stressed
on successful implementation of convergence scheme on Oranges and Cardamom
through MGNREGA in coordination with RM&DD.
A technical lecture was delivered by KT Lepcha, HDO Passingdong,
covering cultivation aspects, disease management and after care of both the
crops. The GVA Passingdong advised farmers to take full advantage of government
schemes and follow the expert advice for successful cultivation of these two
crops.
