GANGTOK, 04 Dec: A group of people have come together to form Yangang Pokhari Sangrakshan Samiti to preserve and conserve the lake at Yangang in South Sikkim, Tig Dey Cho,.
A press release informs that the Sangrakshan Samiti has decided to organise cleanliness drives and other such initiatives towards conserve the water body. The samiti has also decided to raise funds to purchase GI pipes to connect the lake to PHE’s main water source to increase the lake’s water volume. It has also decided to approach the concerned departments and authorities to chalk out plans to conserve the lake. Regular monitoring of the lake to protect its natural environment is also part of the organisation’s plans. The release informs that the samiti will soon be conducting prayers for universal peace to which religious leaders from various religions will be invited to take part.
