GANGTOK, 17 Feb: The state
government has constituted four single-member Motor Accidents Claims Tribunals
for the purpose of adjudicating claims for compensation in respect of motor
accidents.
The tribunal is to adjudicate
on those claims of compensation of cases of motor accidents involving the death
or injury of persons arising out of the use of motor vehicles; the tribunal
will also look into matters of claims of compensation for damages to property
of a third party due to motor accidents.
The Transport Department has
constituted this tribunal with the concurrence of the high court of Sikkim.
The respective district and
sessions judge of each of the four districts are members of the tribunal with
jurisdiction over their respective districts.
