GANGTOK, 21 July: Nakul Das Rai and NB Khatiwada, who unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Parliamentary elections as Trinamool Congress and BJP candidates respectively, have refuted news reports in local and national media on Sikkim Democratic Front being inducted as one of the constituent units of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP at the centre.
In a joint press statement, Mr Rai [a former MP] and Mr Khatiwada [a former MLA] have stated, “This news is concocted, incorrect and misleading the Sikkimese people in as much as the BJP being a party with zero tolerance to corruption in Governance will not be in a position to welcome the SDF party and or the Government led by Pawan Chamling which is corrupt to the hilt.”
The release informs that on 23 June, Mr. Khatiwada submitted a representation to the CBI demanding further investigation in the disproportionate assets case against the Chief Minister and his ministers in Sikkim.
