GANGTOK, 22 June: Following the recent state government circular disallowing government servants from becoming members of any association, 25 members, including 8 executive members, of Aadarsh Samaj of Development Area, resigned from the primary membership as well as from their respective posts with the organization.
A press release from the organization issued by its general secretary, Phurba Sherpa informs that these members resigned during an emergency meeting held today at the Aadarsh Samaj office. The release further informa that a three-member committee headed by a senior citizen and two other members has been formed to run the “social obligations and minimum activities of the Samaj”. This three-member committee has Hem Narayan Pradhan as president, Hem Kumari Chettri as vice-president and Phurba Sherpa as general secretary.
