GANGTOK, 14 July: The President of the Bharatiya Janta Party, Sikkim Unit, Palden Wangchuk has condemned what the party has rejected as “unnecessary and drastic” hike in the fees structure of the Government colleges of Sikkim.
“In a democracy people have a right to voice their grievances,” he adds in a press release while underlining that the students had every right to approach the government. Instead of giving the students a patient hearing the government treated the students with disdain, he said, while also lambasting as “highhanded”, the approach of the administration in not allowing the peaceful protest by the students. The party has strongly condemned the lathicharge by police on the protesting students.
