AREA MLA CALLS FOR END OF PARTIALITY IN RECOGNIZING DESERVING TEACHERS AND ALSO FOR RECOGNITION OF DESERVING SCHOOLS
GANGTOK, 06 Nov: A Complex Level Retired Farewell 2011 program was held on 5 November at Linkey Secondary School. Area MLA, LM Lepcha was present as the chief guest and Joint Director HRDD East, Dr. Ganesh Chettri was present as the guest of honor. TO Bhutia teacher and Nagay Bhutia (Lower Division Clerk) were the two retiring persons.
Also present on the occasion were AD HRDD Mangan, PR Dulal, Principal Mamring Senior Secondary School, Radha Mishra, headmasters of 10 different feeders schools, Panchayats and local publics.
The program started with welcome song by students and teachers of Linkey Secondary School followed by welcome speech by Headmaster of Linkey secondary school Narayan Mishra. He highlighted the dedication shown by the two retiring personalities during their service. He also informed that the school is performing well in all its programmes like education, plantation and sanitation. The two retiring personalities were felicitated by the farewell committee members which included certificates which were handed over by the chief guest and guest of honor.
The chief guest of the day area MLA, LM Lepcha said that teaching job has become a respectable job in the present age, as well as competitive. He said one must feel proud to be a teacher and do the job in a dedicated manner as teachers are the ones who guide and can direct the future of the students. He also shared his 37 years of teaching experience and how he got a Letter of Appreciation. He also urged the concerned Department not to indulge in partiality in the awarding of teachers but to give awards to genuine and deserving ones. He also urged the department to give Letters of Appreciation to those best performing schools which would uplift the morale of the teachers and school heads. He also informed that a new school building and Auditorium of the Linkey Secondary school had been sanctioned and urged the local people to do the works in a proper way.
Guest of honor Joint Director HRDD East, Dr. Ganesh Chettri in his speech expressed his happiness for organizing the program and honouring the retired persons. He said that the next two to three years would be transforming years in the education sectors because of new rules like Right to Education (RTE) and Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). He told the teachers to motivate students as well as to teach them basic knowledge of handwriting and speaking English by which the quality of education will improve and motivate the students towards government schools instead of going to private schools.
On the occasion the students of the surrounding schools presented cultural programmes including Nepali Dance, Bhutia Dance, Hindi Dance and Sherpa Dance. The program was also addressed by CM Dulal, Poonam Sharma and headmasters of Parakha and Bering Junior High school.
