NAMCHI, 09 Nov: Jagatguru Sankaracharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati today delivered his sermon to devotees from all over the state. After the inauguration of the Siddheswara Dham at Solophok yesterday Jagatguru Sankaracharya today addressed the devotees here at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi.
The ‘Prabachan Samaroha’ was also attended by the Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling, his wife Tika Maya Chamling and other cabinet colleagues.
In his prabachan Sankaracharya said that today there is corruption everywhere in India right from the top level to the lower level which needs to be changed. He further said that corruption cannot eradicate corruption and there is corruption even in the name of eradicating it.
Praising the efforts of Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling he said that here in Sikkim religious sentiments have kept the people united. Stating that he was pleased to see the beauty and religious sentiments of Sikkim, Sankaracharya further said that other states of India should also learn from Sikkim and stay united focusing upon development.
On the occasion Chief Minister offered shawl to Jagatguru Sankaracharya and thanked him for blessing the people of Sikkim with his presence and Sankaracharya in turn blessed the Chief Minister and his wife. The Chief Minister was also presented with the photo frame of Swami Swarupanada Saraswati.
On behalf of the organizing committee Retired Secretary, KN Sharma, delivered the vote of thanks.
Later, Jagatguru Sankaracharya returned to Siliguri after resting at Solophok Guest House for a few hours and is scheduled to leave for Delhi tomorrow, it is learnt.
