GANGTOK, 10 Nov: The Melli police has confiscated a huge cache of contraband substances and in the process has arrested one person. One person is, however, absconding.
According to reports the police personnel at the Melli checkpost intercepted a private vehicle with West Bengal number plates at around 7:45 am on 9 November. The vehicle was on its way to Jorethang from Siliguri. On searching the vehicle the police found a large cache of such drugs. All in all 6520 capsules of spasmo proxyvon were recovered along with 190 tablets of N10 and 96 bottles of the cough syrup, Recodex. These were found hidden in the bonnet and under the front seat of the vehicle.
Initially both occupants of the car, Bikash Rai and Sibijan Subba absconded but later the police rounded up Bikash Rai and he was put in custody. Sibijan is yet to be arrested.
