GANGTOK, 08 Nov: Singtam Police arrested one Bhojraj Basnet on 04 November for allegedly abducting 15-year-old Pramila (name changed) who had been missing since 19 October.
According to police sources, a case was registered by the victim’s parents on 02 Nov, following which the Singtam Police headed by PI, Singtam Thana, Chundi Chopel based on suspicion arrested the accused. During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime and revealed that he had kept Pramila at his friend’s sister’s house in Baksihat in Cooch Bihar.
A police team headed by SI, DS Roka left for Baksihat on the same day. The team, assisted by the Cooch Bihar police rescued the victim the next day on 05 Nov and brought her back to Sikkim. The police informed that the victim was handed over to her parents and the accused arrested under section 366 (A) of the IPC.
As per the police, the accused claimed to belong to Tura village in Meghalaya and is employed with a networking agency. [from NANDU DUTRAJ]
