Chardham at Solophok to open today


NAMCHI, 07 Nov: Sikkim's ambitious tourism infrastructure project ‘Siddeshwar Dham’ 'Chardham' at Solophok, Namchi is scheduled to be inaugurated on 08 Nov.
Today, the Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling attended Sankalpa puja here at the Dham premises for initiation of Puja to be done on 08 Nov where Sri Jagadguru Shankarcharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati will be present.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife Tika Maya Chamling, Minister RMDD, CB Karki, MLA Namchi-Singithang, Binod Rai, line department Secretaries and officers from different departments. Today the puja was done by the Dharma Gurus and Pandit where the CM also performed the puja with the pandits.
After the Sankalpa puja, the CM inspected the final touches being given to the statue of Lord Shiva and Shiv Mandir, Rameshwaram Dham, Jagannath Dham, Dwaraka Dham, Badrinath Dham and Sai Mandir. It may be mentioned here that Dr. Chamling had conceived the 'Chardham' project in South district comprising of the replicas of the four dhams, a 108 feet tall statue of Lord Shiva, a replica of Shirdi Sai Baba temple, replicas of twelve 'Jyotirlingas', etc, in a bid to promote religious tourism in Sikkim.
The 'Chardham' project in Namchi was started on 13 February 2005 with the cost of the project at Rs. 98 crores. Entry to the Siddeshwar Dham will open from 09 Nov for tourists and the local people after the inauguration of the Dham.

  1. It is good to see such beautiful creations but would rather appreciate if that much amount of money (98 crores) was spent on good cause by helping underprivileged people and welfare of the people.
