GANGTOK, 16 Nov: On the auspicious occasion of Lhabab Dhuechen which falls on 17 November, Governor Balmiki Prasad Singh has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of Sikkim.
A press release issued by the PRO to the Governor, conveys that Mr. Singh, in his message, says, “Lhabab Dhuechen is considered to be the day Lord Buddha descended to earth on request of his followers to provide them his teachings. Steeped in symbolism as Buddhism is, the occasion of Lhabab Dhuechen can also be seen as the celebration of universalisation of religion.
On this day, I urge the people of Sikkim to remember the virtues of love and compassion preached by Lord Buddha”.
