MANGAN: The National Education Day was celebrated by Mangshila Secondary School in North Sikkim with a skit on RTE, a radio show presented by the students of class IX and an awareness rally on RTE and CCE from the school till Tingchim Lake.
The programme held at the school, began with a brief introduction of the programme by PRT teacher MSS, Bhusan Pandey, followed by headmistress of the school, Chungkipo Lepcha, who in her address, spoke on the Right to Free and Compulsory Education and some provisions of the RTE like compulsory elementary education, no detention policy till the completion of elementary level, training of teachers, special provisions for weaker section and disadvantaged group and continuous comprehensive evaluation.
This was followed by the messages of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister which was read out by two students of class X, Karma Loday Bhutia and Tashi Dorjee Bhutia.
Teachers, students, panchayat members, SMC and community members participated in the programme.
Various other places in North Sikkim also celebrated the day that marks the birthday of the first Education Minister of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
NED at Pheedang The day was observed at Pheedang, Lower Dzongu in a function which was attended by Ward Panchayat, Dawa Dorjee Lepcha, as the chief guest along with
teachers, SMC members and parents.
The programme began with the messages of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister of Sikkim and Union Minister for HRDD. The chief guest in his speech highlighted about RTE and appealed to everyone for the proper implementation of the Act.
At Tibuk JHS
The function at Tibuk JHS was attended by Ward Panchayat, Dilliram Limboo as a chief guest along with teachers, SMC and parents.
Mala Gurung (PRT) read out the message of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Union Minister for HRDD. The chief guest, in his address, highlighted about the role of a teacher and the importance of education. The programme concluded with a rally conducted by the students.
Dikchu Secondary SchoolThe students and teachers of Dikchu Secondary School took out a rally from Dikchu Bazaar via Pheedang Bridge up to Aap Dara Basti on the day.
Headmaster, PN Singh and other SMC members were also present on the day. Similarly, Marchak Primary school in Lower Tintek also observed the Day.
And at Lower Samdong Sr Sec
Students, teachers and guardians of Lower Samdong Secondary School (E) also took out a rally from Raley village to Lower Samdong school with placards and banners highlighting the RTE Act. The rally ended with a programme, which had panchayat secretary of Samdong Kambol GPU, Bishnu Kumari Sharma as
the chief guest.
