GANGTOK, 11 Nov: In compliance with the guidelines of the HRD Department, the Namrang JHS participated in the ‘Shiksha Ka Haq Abhiyan’ awareness programme on RTE marking the National Education Day today.
A rally was organised covering whole of Namrang village on the occasion which was flagged off by the Panchayat president, Tumin GPU, Tika Devi Dhakal. Students, teachers, panchayats, SMC members and the general public participated in the rally carrying placards and banners, informs a press release.
The rally started from the Karma Choling Gumpa [Tumin] premises where the headmaster, Surjay Pradhan read out the message from the Chief Minister before the gathering and ended at the school culminating into a public meeting, the release informs.
Senior-most member of the SMC, Shyamlal Dulal, chaired the meeting wherein teacher, Kamal Dahal, read out the message from the Union HRDD Minister while teacher, Kinzang Y Bhutia, read out the message of the Prime Minister.
The meeting was addressed by the headmaster who highlighted different features of the RTE Act and urged the gathering to be aware of various Acts passed by the Union and State governments for the benefit of the people which will lead to a vibrant society, the release adds. Mr Dulal, welcomed such awareness programmes and addressed the gathering on the importance of RTE.
