GANGTOK, 15 Nov: Luing Perbing Multipurpose Cooperative Society re-nominated the existing executive committee for the next three years during its 6th annual general meeting held on 14 November at Thamidara, informs a press release.
A new member was included in the committee who replaced a former committee member on account of his demise, the release informs. The AGM coincided with the 58th All India Cooperative Week which also started on 14 November.
The annual general meeting-cum-cooperative week celebration had the presence of Cooperation Department Joint Registrar, T Pradhan as the chief guest, Gangtok SISCO Manager, Chewang Rinzing Bhutia, CEO for Sikkim State Cooperative Union, NL Bhandari and others, and it was presided over by Luing Perbing Panchayat President, Shova Gautam.
At the outset, Cooperation Department Inspector, Aatish Rai read out the Cooperation week messages of the Governor, Balmiki Prasad Singh, Chief Minister, Dr Pawan Chamling and Minister, RB Subba. During the meeting, Cooperation Department ARCS, Chanda Rai presenting the annual report of the society informed that the society has recorded a net profit of Rs 73,000 this year and the total profit recorded from 2009 to 2010 stands at Rs 1,26,000, the release informs.
The society is involved in various public benefit activities like institutional credits in the villages in the form of loans to the needy people along with profit making ventures. Though the society is a non-profit making unit but it has shown remarkable progress and development by making profits and distributing it to its share holders/members as dividends, the release further mentions.
The president of the society, Trilok Chand Pandey, giving a brief background and progress of the society till date, highlighted the need for a building of the society, LPG cylinder distribution system though the society and establishment of mini bank in the society for mass benefit.
Responding to the call, chief guest, T Pradhan informed that the Chief Minister during his recent village-to-village tour sanctioned the construction of a building for the society and the department in the first phase will renovate the old society building and will construct a new building in the 2nd phase.
On setting up of mini bank, he requested SISCO bank to look into the matter. He said that they have been making efforts for LPG cylinder distribution system. He also informed about various plans and support of the government to the cooperative societies for benefit of the rural people and urged the society members to push the cooperation movement in the state.
SISCO Manager, Chewang Rinzing Bhutia in his note informed that Luing Perbing MPCS has turned out as one of the best MPCS in the state. NL Bhandari and Society Manager, BL Gautam also addressed the meeting. The society members distributed sweets to the children of Thamidara Junior High School to commemorate Children’s Day.
