NAMCHI, 16 Nov: A team from the Red Cross Society, Sikkim-Chapter, today visited earthquake and landslide affected areas of Neha Mangzing in South Sikkim. The team was assisted on the visit by the Mangzing Landslide/ Earthquake Relief Committee formed last year.
Areas covered in today’s visit were Lower Mangzing, Upper Mangzing and Lingmoo and the team inspected the damages caused due to the landslide of last year and the 18 September Earthquake which has compounded the situation.
Co-coordinator, Mangzing Landslide Relief Committee, Khyam Lal Dabari, inform that after visiting the areas, the Red Cross team distributed kitchen kits, sponsored by the Malaysia Red Cross Society, to 80 affected households of the areas. This kit includes cooking utensils, stoves and blankets. The visiting team also interacted with affected people at a special function held at the Mangzing School premises.
