GANGTOK, 11 Nov: Aho-Kishan Junior High School, East Sikkim, observed the National Education Day commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad today here at the school premises.
Another highlight of the celebration was a rally taken out from the school to Setipool and then back to the starting point. The students carrying banners and placards highlighted the need and importance of free and compulsory elementary education under the Right to Education Act.
The function was chaired by School Management Committee member, Suren Subba as the chief guest, who encouraged the parents, teachers and students to respond to the need of the nation’s education policies and to contribute to the process of educational renaissance.
Headmaster, Kiran Subba read out the message of the Chief Minister, while the message of the Prime Minister was read out by a teacher, Daya Sharma and the message of HRDD Minister was read out by another teacher, Chetan Gurung.
