GANGTOK, 19 Aug: On the occasion of the 68th Independence Day celebration, Union Bank of India, Mangan Branch, extended financial assistance to five girls studying between classes VI to X at Gor Government Secondary School, North Sikkim.
A press release informs that Demand Drafts of Rs. 4,000 each were handed over to the selected meritorious girl students belonging to ST, SC, OBC and Minority Community from economically weaker sections. The objective of this initiative is to motivate girl children from these sections to study well and achieve success in life, the release explains.
Chief guest of the day, Panchayat President Chung Chung Lepcha, Principal Gor SS Phuchungla Bhutia and Union Bank of India, Mangan Branch Manager, Gunjan Thapa handed over the Demand Drafts to the beneficiaries.
