GANGTOK, 22 Aug: Four-day training on vermi-composting was organised at Dzongu, North Sikkim under Capacity Building Programme of Integrated Watershed Management Programme [IWMP], North District by State Level Nodal Agency [SLNA], Forest Environment & Wildlife Management Department which concluded today.
A press release informs that 200 beneficiaries from all the ten micro watersheds of IWMP-I Dzongu were trained on the latest techniques and correct procedures of vermi-composting. The beneficiaries were given theoretical as well as practical training.
This is the first time that vermi-composting training has been conducted under IWMP, it is informed. The earthworms will be provided to the beneficiaries after completion of training and construction of vermi-compost pits for seed stock.
The beneficiaries of IWMP North thanked the department for conducting such beneficial training for the villagers.
