GANGTOK, 19 Aug: Renowned singers and musicians of Nepali music were felicitated by media house Dainik Jagaran in a special programme, ‘Legends of Nepali Music’, held here today, significantly on the eve of Bhasa Manyata Diwas. On the occasion, a new Nepali music video ‘Mann’ of Remanti Rai was also released by the Governor, Shriniwas Patil.
Renowned musicians and singers, Ganesh Sharma, Divya Ratna Tuladhar, Kiran Rasaily, Uttam Pradhan, Winzamit Lepcha and Bimla Pradhan were felicitated by the Governor. Earlier, these artists also performed in the function.
In his address, the Governor appreciated the initiative of Dainik Jagaran in recognizing the works of Nepali music artists. He further encouraged them to continue with such efforts to take the art and culture of the state forward and to inspire artists.
While appreciating the performances of singers and musicians, he mentioned that artists are part of the cultural heritage of the society and should be appreciated and supported. Although a small state, Sikkim is rich in terms of culture and is full of talented artists in different art forms, he added.
