Bungalows to be constructed for Speaker, CS and DGP

GANGTOK, 18 Aug: The state government has decided, in principle, to construct bungalows for the Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. The three bungalows are expected to be built at projected costs of Rs. 399.96 lakh, Rs. 352.85 lakh and Rs. 350.33 lakh respectively. The decision was taken by the Cabinet at its sitting on 12 August.
The proposal was mooted by the Buildings & Housing Department and was passed by the Cabinet.
The Speaker’s bungalow is expected to come up at VIP colony, near Circuit House.
Besides this, the State government has also passed the proposal of constructing the Water Security & Public Health Engineering, Irrigation Flood Control and Buildings and Housing department’s Sub-Divisional offices at Pakyong at an estimated cost of Rs. 516.61 lakh.
The cabinet proposal has also made adequate provisions in the Supplementary Demands for Grants along with completion of tender process in anticipation of financial sanction.
The Cabinet has also approved and sanctioned Food Security & Agriculture Development Department’s proposal for implementation of the scheme Improvement of Agriculture Statistics [IAS] with respect to the component Establishment of Agency for Reporting Agriculture Statistics [ERAS].
The state government has also decided to come up with a new establishment of Capacity Building, Skill Development, Training, Placement, Youth Empowerment, and Self Reliant Board under Human Resource &Development Department.
