MANGAN, 18 Aug: The 68th Independence Day celebration at Lum Primary School, Lower Dzongu, North Sikkim witnessed the finals of the football tournament, felicitation programme, a cultural programme and other events.
The National flag was unfurled by the chief guest on the occasion, Panchayat Vice President, T Gyatso Lepcha. The organising committee felicitated Headmaster R Simik for his dedication in improving the academic performance of Lum school.
The final match of the football tournament was held between Basal Club of Aap Dara and Tendong Boys. Basal Club lifted the trophy by defeating Tendong Boys 1-0. The winners were awarded Rs 8000 cash prize.
In his address, the chief guest extended warm greetings on I-Day and urged people to focus on giving the coming generation the best education possible.
