ENGAGE 14 inspires students of Modern Secondary School

GANGTOK, 19 Aug: ENGAGE 14, the initiative of Gangtok Municipal Corporation to sensitize school students on various aspects of Solid Waste Management and inspire them to reduce, reuse and recycle reached Modern Secondary School with its second phase intervention called “ENGAGE Discussion.”
As per a press release, the students of the school were sensitized on their roles and responsibilities in keeping Gangtok and Sikkim neat and clean. They were also made to understand about the different kind of wastes and encouraged to start the concept of e-bins to collect electronic waste which could be further handed over to the GMC so that the used and unwanted electronic goods can be sent to recycling plants.
The school thanked Gangtok Municipal Corporation for conducting such an educative and need of the hour issue/session on waste management, the release mentions.
The ENGAGE Discussion had Deputy Municipal Commissioner, GMC, Sangay Gyatso; Scientist, State Pollution Control Board, Rajeev Rai; Environmental Engineer, State Pollution Control Board, Ranjan and; Ex- KCC Member, Vivek Chettri as the panelists. The session was moderated by Chief Learning Officer, 24hours Inspired, Dewaker Basnet.
ENGAGE Discussion is a part of the ENGAGE 14 initiative, a seven-month intervention of the Gangtok Municipal Corporation to reach out to schools across Gangtok to sensitize the students about reducing, reusing and recycling. ENGAGE 14, a GMC initiative is powered by 24hours Inspired.
