GANGTOK, 21 Aug: The city round of an all India Quiz competition for schoolchildren of Classes VIII to X was organized by INTACH Sikkim Chapter here at Deorali Girls Senior Secondary School on 20 August. The competition was attended by 92 students representing 14 Gangtok schools.
The team of Debraj Chaudhuri and Udishya Giri of Tashi Namgyal Academy won the contest and are now through to the Zonal Competition scheduled for 27 August at Guwahati, an INTACH-Sikkim press release informs. Should they get through the zonals, they will be competing in the national contest to be held in Delhi and which will be telecast in national channels.
Meanwhile in the city round, there was a tie for the runners-up slot between the team of Chopel Wangdi Bhutia and Ritik Kumar Das of Holy Cross and Simran Sharma and Zeenat Azmi Ali of West Point School.
The quiz was conducted by Bina Sharma, a senior teacher of Enchey Senior Secondary School.
PK Dong, convenor, INTACH Sikkim Chapter, while giving away the Certificates of Participation, congratulated and thanked all the principals, teachers in charge and students for participating in the quiz. He advised the students to keep participating in such competitions whenever they get the opportunity so that more and more students of Sikkim are seen competing in national and international levels of diverse competitive fields.
