GANGTOK, 01 June: Government Secondary School, Tarpin, East Sikkim observed World No Tobacco Day on 31 May.
As per a press release, in the morning assembly, the Headmaster highlighted the adverse affects of tobacco consumption [chewing and smoking] on health and its impact on the family and society as well.
In order to raise awareness among the students and to convey the same message to the public in general several competitive programmes were held amongst the students of different classes in the school premises, the release informs.
Events like poster making, cartooning, essay writing, story writing and quiz competition were held on the theme “harmful effects of tobacco”. Students from classes VI to class X took part in the different competitions, it is added.
