Gangtok, 05 June [IPR]: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Smt. Tika Maya Chamling have conveyed heartfelt condolences on the passing away of former Minister Bhim Raj Rai.
The Chief Minister has remembered Mr. Rai as “a leader with an innate desire to serve the poor and downtrodden, who has contributed immensely to the development of the State”.
The Chief Minister further said that the demise of Mr. Rai has created a huge vacuum in the political arena of the state. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister has wished for strength and courage to the bereaved family.
The late Mr. Rai was a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Jorethang constituency from Sikkim Sangram Parishad for two consecutive terms. He went on to serve as Forest Minister from 1992 to 1994.
Mr. Rai passed away on the early hours of 03 June at the age of 78 years at the Central Referral Hospital here.
