GANGTOK, 04 June: A meeting of Former Legislators'
Federation of Sikkim [FLFS] was held at Gangtok today under the chairmanship of
its president, SK Pradhan.
A press release informs that the former MLAs present in the
meeting expressed their deepest condolences on the sad demise of Late Bhim Raj
Rai, former Member of Legislative Assembly from Jorethang constituency.
Late Bhim Raj Rai represented Jorethang constituency in the
Sikkim Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1989 from the Sikkim Sangram Parishad
party. He was re-elected from the same constituency for the 1989-94 term. He
was elevated as the Minister of Forest Environment and Wild Life department in
1992. The Late BR Rai was working under Forest and Mines Geology department as
Assistant Conservator of Forest before joining active politics. During his
tenure as MLA he has made immense contribution for the development of Jorethang
constituency.
Late BR Rai was undergoing treatment at Central Referral
Hospital, Manipal and after prolonged illness he breathed his last on 03 June
at CRH, Tadong. He was a man of downtrodden and a man of high integrity. The
members present in the condolence meeting expressed their heartfelt condolences
to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul, the release
mentions.
