GANGTOK, 03 June [IPR]: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and Mrs. Tika Maya Chamling have expressed profound grief and have deeply condoled the sudden demise of senior BJP leader and Union Cabinet Minister for Rural Development, Gopinath Munde. Mr. Munde passed away in the morning today after he met with a road accident in the Moti Bagh area of the national capital, New Delhi.
Referring to Mr Munde as the true leader of the masses the Chief Minister in his condolence message has said that he is extremely shocked and saddened by the demise of Mr Munde. He was an experienced leader who understood the pulse of the people and worked tirelessly with sincerity and dedication for the upliftment of the poor, downtrodden and hapless throughout his life, the Chief Minister has said in his condolence message.
The Chief Minister has further said that the loss of Mr Munde is an irreparable loss to the nation.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister has wished for strength and courage to the bereaved family and his near and dear ones at this hour of grief and irreparable loss.
Mr Munde was Deputy Chief Minister of Maharastra from 1995 to 1999 and elected twice to India’s Lower House of Parliament in 2009 and 2014. He had served as deputy leader of Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Parliament.
