GANGTOK, 02 June: Sikkim MPs PD Rai and Hishey Lachungpa called on MoEF and I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar today in New Delhi.
The MPs, an official press release informs, met the Union Minister at his office in Shastri Bhawan and conveyed Chief Minister Pawan Chamling’s good wishes to him.
“SDF will work together with NDA to accelerate development in Sikkim. Prakash Ji knows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our Chief Minister Pawan Chamling share very good relations and appreciates our CM’s approach,” Mr. Rai conveys in a press release.
At the meeting, Mr. Javadekar assured smooth cooperation between his ministries and the government of Sikkim and promised that a special thrust will be given to the North East Region towards improving the reach of Doordarshan and All India Radio.
“I have forwarded our outstanding issues regarding DD and AIR and the Minister has assured that appropriate action will be taken at the earliest,” Mr. Rai adds.
Mr. Javadekar also said that issues relating to the Ministry of Environment and Forests will also be resolved soon.
Incidentally, Mr. Javadekar and Mr. Rai are founding members of GLOBE India and have worked together to build the India chapter of this legislative forum on Environment and Climate Change.
