GANGTOK, 01 June: 896 students enrolled under Vocational subjects in different Government Senior Secondary Schools of Sikkim appeared for the class XII CBSE this year and achieved an overall pass percentage of 87.61.
A press release from the Sibin group informs that out of 896 students who appeared for the CBSE, 785 students have passed, 65 have compartments and 37 have failed.
Sonali Gupta of Health Care Science from Deorali Girls Government Senior Secondary School is ranked in first position with 90.4%, followed by Budha Man Rai of Travel & Tourism stream with 84% from GSSS, Kaluk, West Sikkim and Divya Sharma of Health Care Science with 83.6% from GSSS, Enchey.
Nine students have scored 80% and above marks, 319 students secured 60% and above marks, 456 students scored 40% and above marks, the release informs.
In the rest of the streams, the state toppers are Cendrella Pradhan from GSSS, Namchi Girls of Food & Beverage Service with 80.8%, Reena Kumari Rajak of IT Application stream with 80.2% from GSSS, Samdong, Kunzang Choden Sherpa of Marketing & Salesmanship stream with 76.8% from GSSS, Namchi Boys, Roshika Tamang of Horticulture stream with 74% from GSSS, Namthang, Binod Khatiwora of Financial Market Management with 69.6% from GSSS, Central Pendam, Ongjay Lepcha of Food Production with 68.4% from GSSS, Deorali Girls, Mr. Saroj Pradhan of Electrical Technology stream with 66.4% from GSSS, Chujachen.
Sibin group is the implementing agency of Vocational Education Programme in Sikkim and handles the overall task of running programme including monitoring, recruitment, conduction of examination, study materials preparation etc.
Maintaining consistency in the pass percentage and scoring higher marks since 2006, the vocational students have proved their sincere effort and desire to pursue competency based education within the formal government school educational system, the release adds.
