for Elections 2014 - 830 assembly, and 834 parliamentary votes submitted
through postal ballot
GANGTOK, 09 Apr [IPR]: The third and the final training for
the Polling Officers II to VI of East District was completed today at Chintan
Bhawan, Gangtok. With this the training of the Presiding and Polling Officers
of East District has been completed.
During the training the officials engaged in election duty
were provided with the Postal Ballot Papers at Chintan Bhawan and the officials
exercised their franchise through the Postal Ballot Facilitation Centers
established at Chintan Bhawan. 830 postal ballots were cast for the Assembly
Constituencies and 834 postal ballots were cast for the Sikkim Parliamentary
Constituency.
Now, the postal ballot Facilitation Center for other
employees/officials engaged in election duty will be available at Tashi Namgyal
Academy on 10, 11 and 12 April. No Facilitation Center will be available after
midnight of 12 April 2014.
Therefore all such employees are requested to exercise their
franchise through postal ballots latest by 12 April. Postal Ballots cannot be
handed over personally to anybody, even to the Returning Officer. After 12
April 2014 Postal Ballots can be sent to concerned Returning Officer only
through unpaid post.
The Returning Officer, East has identified 49 Polling
Stations for web casting and the trial for web casting has been completed. Two
Polling stations have been identified as Model Polling Stations viz. Sun Pharma
Guest House, Ranipool and While Memorial Hall, Zero Point, Gangtok. Directions
have been given to the Sector Magistrates for making all necessary arrangements
for the Model Polling Stations.
