GANGTOK, 08 Apr: Additional Director General, West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate, Major General Shyam Shrivastava visited 1 Sikkim Girls Bn NCC Gangtok on 05 April. He was welcomed by Commanding Officer 1 Sikkim Girls Bn NCC Gangtok, Col Rahul Jauhri.
A press release informs that Maj Gen Shrivastava interacted with the NCC cadets during his visit and motivated them to take up a career in the Armed Forces. He congratulated Girl cadet, Tshering Choden of JNV School who had represented Sikkim in the Republic Day parade at New Delhi this year. He also congratulated third officer, Bindhya R Thapa of Namchi Girls Sr Sec School for bagging a gold medal and third officer, Uma Devi Nepal of Rateypani Sr Sec School for bagging a silver medal in the all India competition conducted at the Officer Training Academy Gwalior.
During the visit, Col Jauhri gave the unit briefing and took him for a familiarization visit around the unit. Maj Gen Shrivastava appreciated Col Jauhri´s efforts in enrolling 3520 girl cadets from the entire state of Sikkim and assured to release additional budget to 1 Sikkim Bn NCC to motivate the cadets, the release mentions. Also present during the visit were Administrative Officer NCC Group HQ Darjeeling, Col Anil Mankotia, Administrative Officer 1 Sikkim Girls Bn NCC, Capt Manu R and Sub Maj Sri Ram Rai.
