GANGTOK, 10 Apr: With a day left for polling to begin, Sikkim Democratic Front today reaffirmed its confidence in winning all 32 Assembly seats as well as the Lok Sabha seat. At the same time, the party has raised its objections to Sikkim Krantikari Morcha claiming a certain amount of votes cast through postal ballot till now to be in its favour.
Addressing a press conference today, the SDF spokesperson, Bhim Dahal, stated that the SDF party will return to form the government for the fifth term. SKM president, PS Tamang [Golay] won the elections four times due to SDF party and its president, Mr Dahal contended. A party formed because one person was dissatisfied for not getting a ministerial post cannot defeat SDF, he added.
The challenge is for Mr Tamang to prove himself by winning Upper Burtuk and Namthang-Rateypani seats, Mr. Dahal added.
Mr Dahal also accused Mr. Tamang of trying to spoil relations between Sikkim and Darjeeling hills. He further accused NB Bhandari and SIBLAC convenor Tsetan Tashi of playing communal politics. Such a gathering of people in the SKM party reveals that the party has no principles, he stated.
The SDF spokesperson also rubbished the announcements and assurances given by SKM on Wednesday and alleged that they are copied from the SDF manifesto.
