The inspecting team also checked the alarm and warning system at Dikchu, Makha and Balutar used by the NHPC for release of water from the Stage-V dam at Dikchu. The DC East’s office informs that “improvements” have been made by the NHPC on the alarm and warning system as per the suggestions of the District Administration.
The manual sirens have been converted to GSM operated sirens and new sirens installed at SMIT, Rangpo, Makha and Bardang in addition to the sirens already installed at Balutar, Forest Office Singtam, Forest Office Mamring, it is further informed.
NHPC was also directed that sirens be installed at Yongaon, Makha and Lower Samdong where there is habitation along the river side. NHPC also requested the general public to cooperate with them in the installation of the sirens.
