GANGTOK, 30 June: The mortal remains of Shamar Rinpoche will be flown in to Bagdogra on 01 July from where they will be taken to Kalimpong where devotees can pay their respects for a further 2 weeks, it is informed.
It is expected that a large number of devotees from Sikkim will be travelling to Bagdogra and Kalimpong to pay their last respects. Shamar Rinpoche had passed away on 11 June in Germany. The Rinpoche’s kudung had been kept at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute [KIBI], New Delhi for around a week. It had then been decided to take the mortal remains to Kalimpong to the Rinpoche’s institute there for further prayers and possibly the funeral.
