GANGTOK, 02 July: Minister, Rural Management & Development Department, SB Subedi inaugurated the newly constructed Lamting Tingmo Gram Prashashan Kendra, under Wok Gram Vikas Kendra, South Sikkim today.
A press release mentions that the Gram Prashashan Kendra building had been badly damaged in the 2011 earthquake and had to be reconstructed. The new Gram Prashashan Kendra has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 29.99 lakh under the Thirteenth Finance Commission and was completed within three years.
On the occasion, Panchayat President, Mingma Sangay Sherpa welcomed all the guests present and thanked the Government for the new Gram Prashashan Kendra. D. E. (Zilla), Pratap Gautam read out the Technical Report while GVA, Wok, Milan Rai apprised the house of the various developmental activities being undertaken under his Block.
Purna Bahadur Limboo, the donor of land for the new Gram Prashashan Kendra was also felicitated during the programme, the release mentions.
Secretary, RMDD, DR Nepal in his address spoke of the various works being undertaken by the Department and the need for the public to be aware and vigilant so that the delivery mechanism improves.
Zilla Adhyaksha, CL Gurung emphasised on the various developmental activities being undertaken by the Government and how it has improved the lives of the poor.
The chief guest on the occasion, Minister RMDD, SB Subedi stated that like the Secretariat in Gangtok is the seat of the State Government likewise the new Gram Prashashan Kendra is the seat of the Village Government and all the Panchayats and functionaries must be present in the office everyday to provide their services to the people. He congratulated all for the new office and wished them the best in the future.
Also present were Devi Maya Baraily [Zilla Up-Adhyaksha], HB Gurung [Director, Panchayat], Tashi Chophel [ADC Dev, Ravangla], Yangchen Tamang [DPO, South], BK Rai [SDM, Ravangla] and other officers, Panchayats (Zilla and Gram) and local gentry.
