NAMCHI, 02 July: A meeting to discuss the celebration of the 200th Bhanu Jayanti was held at Soreng, West Sikkim on Monday. The meeting was initiated by SDM Soreng, Ravindra Kumar and was chaired by Minister HRDD, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Sports & Youth Affairs Department, RB Subba.
Welcoming the gathering SDM Soreng gave a brief introduction of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya and also highlighted the work of various committees set up for the celebration and their responsibilities. Minister RB Subba requested the officials present to give their introduction and urged the gathering including officials, school heads and others to do their duty sincerely for the service of the people and society as a whole.
Speaking on the Bhanu Jayanti celebration, Mr Subba urged the gathering to celebrate the occasion in a grand manner by duly constituting ‘Bhanu Smarika Committee’ for recording activities of Bhanu Jayanti Celebration and of the committee so as to promote youngsters in the field of literature.
Former Zilla Panchayat Adhakshya, RM Rai was nominated as the president of Bhanu Jayanti Celebration Committee Soreng by the Minister and was entrusted with the responsibility of framing sub- committees as and when required in coordination with other members. SDM Soreng will be coordinating the celebration as chairman of the Bhanu Jayanti Celebration Committee Soreng.
In the course of the meeting the Minister also directed the Deputy Directors HRDD Soreng to verify the complaints of shortage of HMs, mathematics and science teachers and other teachers and to make arrangements for the same within the summer vacation.
The Minister also requested the SDM and SDPO Soreng to look into the public's complaints regarding the charging of Rs1000 by the LPG distribution centre of Soreng for registration of consumers.
The meeting was conducted in the Conference hall of Sub-Divisional Administrative Centre in Soreng and attended by officials, school heads, former and present Zilla Panchayat members, NGOs and youths.
