GANGTOK, 03 July: A case under section 379 [punishment for theft] of the Indian Penal Code has been registered on 02 July at Singtam Police Station against one Robin Chettri [31], resident of Siliguri [WB], presently residing at Adarsh Gaon. As per the FIR lodged, on the evening of 02 July, some unknown person(s) stole a scooty from Golitar, Singtam. A man hunt was initiated by Singtam police to catch the miscreant.
Accordingly, at midnight, the accused was apprehended at Bagey Khola alongwith the stolen scooty and a bag containing cash amount of Rs. 2.13 Lakhs, official documents related to office of BDO [Khamdong] and Stamps/ Seals of BDO [Khamdong].
The stolen documents and cash are suspected to belong to BDO [Khamdong], the theft of which was reported in a police complaint yesterday. The accused has been sent to Judicial Custody.
