GANGTOK, 30 June: The 7th Foundation Day of Sikkim University will be celebrated on 02 July with a special lecture at Sikkim Government College Auditorium here at Tadong.
HRD Minister RB Subba is scheduled to attend as chief guest while former Editor of The Statesman and the author of “Smash and Grab: The Annexation of Sikkim”, Sunanda K Datta-Ray will deliver the 7th Foundation Day Lecture on “The ‘Near Abroad’ concept for big countries like the US, Russia, China and India.”
The lecture will be followed by cultural performances by University teachers and students, which will be followed by Odissi dance by the renowned Mrs K. Pattanaik and group. Mantra, a rock band from Darjeeling, will perform in the evening, a press release informs.
