GANGTOK, 01 July: Ranipool Police arrested one person on charges of attempted murder at Palum basti, Naitam on Monday. Police investigation revealed that following a heated altercation the accused had stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a knife. Both were reportedly in an intoxicated condition at the time of the incident.
The victim was rushed to STNM Hospital, Gangtok and then referred to CRH, Tadong where an emergency operation was carried out. He is in the ICU in a serious condition at present. Both the victim and accused are residents of Toribari District, West Bengal and had come to work at Naitam. A case u/s 307 IPC has been registered against the accused and is under investigation.
