GANGTOK, 02 July [IPR]: GOC 27-Mountain Division, Kalimpong, Major General Gurpal Singh Sangha, commissioned into the 11th Bn Grenadian Regiment called on the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at his official residence Mintokgang here in the capital this morning.
During the meeting the Maj General congratulated the Chief Minister for his fifth term in office and good governance. He informed about the Army coordination in the eastern region and the expansion of infrastructures in the area.
During the discussion the Maj General informing the Chief Minister about the various issues of army in the border areas said that army in the border areas is for the security of the Nation as well as to fight against any form of natural disaster.
The Major General also presented a souvenir to the Chief Minister during the meeting.
While taking to the Major General the Chief Minister said that there is good coordination between army and the state government and hoped for the same in the future. He also assured the General that his government will provide any possible help and cooperation to the army.
